What is the study about?

We're establishing a futures market for personal data, so the aim of this study is test out our trading platform within a real-world scenario. This means we'll get buyers and sellers together and 'game' a few trading scenarios to see whether there is sufficient trading activity happening.

Who are you looking for?

We're looking for both buyer and seller volunteers who are over 18 and a resident of the UK. You must have access to this website and be available to interact with the system during the testing period. Buyers must be representitive of organisations who are interested in purchasing seller data.

What do I have to do?

There are three phases to the study:

1. Data Collection. This period will last for at least a month and will involve volunteer sellers collecting data from organisations that hold their data and uploading it to the Vault. For example, using the data download functionality of Facebook or downloading quarterly energy bills from a supplier. Sellers will be monitored and asked to evaluate the suitability of a variety of datasets for trading.
2. Persona Identification. Once data has been uploaded to the Vault, a phase of data mining will take place to identify personas - buckets that describe data packages that can be traded on the Exchange. Buyers will be asked to help design these personas to ensure they are commercially viable.
3. The Trading Game. Spanning over a month, the game will involve a number of rounds where different persona products are traded. We envisage each round lasting a couple of days and participants will be asked to work towards a series of goals.
